Discovering Opportunities for Outreach and Reflection (DOOR) is a faith-based network of six cities that provides opportunities for service, learning and leadership development within the urban context. We highlight the strengths of our cities, as well as the needs. We believe this is best accomplished through collaboration, mutuality and partnership.

Chicago hires new Assistant Director
DOOR is pleased to announce that Juan Pablo Herrera has been hired as the DOOR Chicago Assistant City Director. Herrera will join Andrea Sawyer-Kirksey, Chicago City Director, to run DOOR’s programming in the city.
Herrera has spent most of his life living and working in the Humboldt Park and Logan Square neighborhoods of Chicago. He was the Afterschool Ambassador for the state of Illinois, which helped him advocate for students in Washington, DC. He also worked for Logan Square Neighborhood Association as a Resource Coordinator, connecting residents with programs in the community. Herrera is particularly passionate about helping the homeless and the undocumented immigrants in the city. However, he is willing to lend a hand in anything that involves helping his neighbors in Humboldt Park and Chicago because he loves collaborating with other churches and organizations in order to live a life according to Matthew 25:37-40. Herrera most recently worked as a Marketing Coordinator of The Carpenter’s House in Humboldt Park.
DOOR looks forward to having Herrera and his passion for the church and Chicago join the staff team on April 1, 2015.
