Public Transportation

We depend on you to transport your group to work sites. DOOR is not able to provide transportation to work sites.  In order to better prepare for hosting your group, we need to know your transportation plans. Please call the national office if your plans change.

This is for planning purposes only. All costs will be verified by our office upon registration.

Disclaimer: The price from the local transit authorities may change and we must pass that along to you as well. You will be notified of any such changes.

  • Individual Vehicles (Vehicles carrying up to 15 passengers- cars, SUVs, vans)
You may need to pay for parking your vehicles in some cities. Check with your city director for details.
  • Bus (Vehicles carrying 16 or more passengers)
If your group brings a bus, you will have to purchase public transportation for one third of your group. If you bring 45 people on a bus plan to purchase 15  public transit passes. We will rotate the 15 passes around so that everyone uses public transit and everyone uses the bus for the transportation during the week as evenly as possible. Public transit cost and availability vary by city (see chart below).

You will also have to budget for using the bus (drivers, parking and gas) during the week to transport groups to and from work sites and evening speakers. (This may involve hiring two drivers.)
  • Public Transit: Using public transit can add to your city experience. Public transit service and cost vary greatly by city. Note that you cannot rely solely on public transit in all cities.  Space is limited and costs vary depending on which city you are going to. Space is on a first come first serve basis. You must call for availability. Please take the following restrictions into account for your planning.
