All of the coordination work is done for you.
The typical college group does not come with a paid staff person that gets to do all the set up and prep work. No the typical college group is made up of entirely students. No one has the time to set up housing and work projects, and organize the food, let alone order a group tshirt. DOOR provides all of those "services" and there aren't based by calling folks from a google search or an old fashioned phone book. The week is designed and coordinated based our our year around relationships in the cities. You get to come and see what we get to see- God's presence in the city in the hands and hearts of an incredible people serving one another. You don't have time to worry about the details. We do and you get the benefit of our experience. You can do it cheaper, but you can't get as much value..jpg)
Our structure provides variety of experience. Every day your group will be involved with a different project, ministry, experience. We ask groups to divide up into small teams of 4-6 people for each team. This is great if you are bringing a small group. If your group is larger, then these small teams facilitate members of your group getting to know one another better. Most City Directors will allow some team switching around so a larger group can mix and match up their members, however, the projects scheduled must be covered so that we do not resend our commitments to them. 
Our evening presentations and speakers get to the local issues of our cities each Monday and Tuesday night. Often our speakers respected authorities in their field. Their wealth of knowledge is impressive. College students have context for the issues and ask the best questions. Students can learn quite a bit and connect the dots between their newest experience, their college classwork, and their lives in general. Our cities are incredibly interesting. They are often Spring Break destinations in themselves. But by serving through DOOR, you gain a deeper experience than any guidebook or website could ever tell you. Our City Directors know their cities better than average locals. We live them, study them, serve them,learn from them. We simply love our cities. We believe you can understand a city much better by walking its neighborhoods, riding its buses and serving in a city's social service agencies.
